The Bagley lineage traces back from the mother of the wife of a Quaker immigrant from Overbury in Worcestershire, England, one of the first settlers of Birmingham, Chester, Pennsylvania. Her father [13] Edward Bagley was raised as the son of a preferred deerkeeper of Baron Edward Sutton, 5th Lord Dudley, an estate of Worchestershire (an enclave in Staffordshire), England. The evidence from the testimony of documents produced in that time shows rather clearly that his mother, [13] Ann Tomlinson, was oldest among the many illegitimate offspring of the baron. She was raised as if she were the youngest sister of the barons mistress due to the fact that he would have lost his estate had it been known that she was his, born as she was shortly before his father had died. Her true parentage was revealed privately through a hand-written note by her mother on her deathbed.
